BOOK ONE · LESSON 139
Is that you, John? 是你吗,约翰?
是你吗,约翰?
A dialogue lesson about a telephone conversation between Graham Turner (at his office) and John Smith (the telephone engineer). Graham invites John to dinner this evening at his home with his wife Mary, but John can't come because Mary wants to invite Charlotte and Graham to dinner. Graham wants to know what John is writing about, and John is repairing Graham's telephone line. The lesson introduces tag questions: 'aren't you?', 'do you?', 'is he?', 'are they?', 'won't she?', 'will they?', 'didn't they?', 'has he?', 'wasn't she?'. The workbook drills comprehension questions about the dialogue and tag-question completion; the grammar workbook completes 'will' and 'won't' dialogue items and writes 'if' sentences with 'will'/'won't' and 'may'.
