BOOK ONE · LESSON 137

A pleasant dream

美好的梦

A dialogue lesson between Brian and Julie about their dreams of winning a lot of money on the football pools. Brian says he's nearly finished the football pools and is sure they'll win something. Julie says if they win a lot of money, she wants to see the world, travel round the world, and stay at the best hotels. Brian says if they win, they'll travel round the world, stay at the best hotels, return home, and buy a big house in the country. Julie worries that if they spend all the money, they'll be poor again. The lesson introduces the use of 'if' clauses with present and past tenses, and the use of 'win' with sports and games. The workbook drills the dialogue fill-in and vocabulary opposites; the grammar workbook rewrites sentences with 'if' and present tense, and rewrites 'if' clauses in the past tense.
