BOOK ONE · LESSON 082
I had ...
我吃(喝、从事)了……
A picture lesson on the verb 'have' in the past tense (eat, drink, or be engaged in an activity). Students listen to a recording and answer a question, then study twelve numbered pictures (760-1,090) showing meals, a swim, a bath, a haircut, a lesson, a party, a holiday and a good time. Written exercises ask students to rewrite sentences using drank / enjoyed yourself / are eating / went for / ate / take, and to answer questions using going to have / having / must have / had. Workbook practice covers personal questions about the verb 'have' and open-ended situation responses. Grammar exercises combine two clauses with 'but ... didn't have' and make sentences using the short forms 'and I did, too / but we aren't / but ... can't'.
